Southside Talanoa Series consists of three free dialogue events held in different venues in Ōtāhuhu, South Auckland from August to October 2019. The series has an accompanying online archive of podcasts, documentation and further reading expanding the talanoa of each event. The Southside Talanoa Series has been designed to showcase urban Pacific expression and creativity from Tāmaki Makaurau – and share it with the world. It is proudly supported by Auckland Council as part of the Pacific Arts Programme.
The three events aim to create forums for discussion tackling cultural, economic, sociological and creative concerns that are ingrained in Pacific visual culture. They each foreground different thought leaders to stimulate conversation and ideas, and invite audiences to participate, get involved and get inspired!
